There was a time when going up North meant going on vacation to Laval. Back in 1876, trainloads of vacationers from Montréal looking for a little R&R would disembark in the village of Sainte-Rose along the Mille-Îles River. The Sainte-Rose of today has retained its old-fashioned charm and the Mille-Îles River has kept intact its beautiful archipelago. Nature flourishes here and its exploration is accessible to all. An outing on the river at Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles is a wonderful ecological experience for the entire family. Laval covers an area of 245 square kilometres. The island produces such an array of horticultural and garden products that it has been designated as the undisputed Flower and Garden Capital of Québec.
